"The Doll with the Yellow Star" by Yona Zeldis McDonough tells the poignant story of a young Jewish girl named Ruth who lives in Warsaw during World War II. As the Nazi occupation intensifies, Ruth is forced to wear the yellow Star of David to signify her Jewish identity. Amidst the turmoil, she clings to her beloved doll that also bears a yellow star, symbolizing her innocence and hope. As Ruth's world changes dramatically, the doll becomes a source of comfort and strength, representing the enduring bond of love and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.
