Young children often speculate about what they want to be when they grow up, but in this book it is the Letterland characters doing the pondering! Dippy Duck is deciding between being a doctor...or a dancer, while Poor Peter wants to be a postman...or perhaps even a pirate! Children will have lots of fun thinking up other possible alliterative careers and at the same time they will be learning about letter sounds. This enjoyable book is part of Stage 1 of Reading At Home, a carefully planned reading strand which takes children from the earliest stages of reading to deciphering whole sentences within a story context. I Want to Be features one line of simple, repetitive text on each spread, which combined with lively illustrations, all help to make reading fun!
