This is a book about using different forms of light in cultural and religious festivals around the world. The book begins by introducing and locating festivals around the world. It then looks at how people in general use candles in worship. The book then shows how different festivals are celebrated by looking at Divali, Hannukah, Meskal, Christmas and Advent. As learners read about these festivals, they can make a diya (a divali lamp) and a star lantern. Finally the book looks at Chinese New Year and how fireworks are used worldwide to mark the start of a new year.
