about the author: Juliet Clare Bell wrote The Kite Princess while bringing up her young family, working in twenty-minute sessions on park benches or at the swimming pool. Before becoming a mother she worked in research as a developmental psychologist. She now coordinates the central west region of the Society of Childrens' Book Writers and Illustrators and runs critique groups. She lives in Birmingham with her husband and three children. This is her first project with Barefoot Books. Her art is predominantly hand drawn and painted, using a variety of media. The Kite Princess is her first book. about the narrator: Imelda Staunton is an English actress best known for her roles in the Harry Potter film series (in which she played Professor Umbridge), the TV comedy Up the Garden Path, and the film Vera Drake. As the title character in Vera Drake, Imelda garnered BAFTA and Venice Film Festival awards for best actress in a leading role, and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. She has also narrated The Kite Princess for Barefoot Books.
