Media looks at the far-reaching and subtle influence of cinema, television, newspapers and advertising and at the new forms of communications media - the Internet and World Wide Web. Do media moguls, such as Rupert Murdoch and Silvio Berlusconi, wield too much power? Are we manipulated by advertising? Or, are we quite capable of making independent decisions concerning who we vote for and what we buy? This book examines the origins and consequences of the 'information revolution', and looks at the extent to which our view of the world is shaped by the media images we consume.
