An extraordinarily warm and funny book about a big brothers courage and inventiveness when he discovers his parents have been run over by a truck or have they? When We Were Alone in the World has the same dry humour as All the Dear Little Animals. It is so true to childhood the boy taking on responsibility and acting beyond his years and is all about the power of imagination.
