Matt Doeden is a freelance author and editor from Minnesota. He's written numerous children's books on sports, music, current events, the military, extreme survival, and much more. His books Sandy Koufax (Twenty-First Century Books, 2006) and Tom Brady: Unlikely Champion (Twenty-First Century Books, 2011) were Junior Library Guild selections. He was encouraged in the arts by his parents and grandparents, and began illustrating sermons for his grandfather at a young age. After graduating from Nebraska Lutheran High School, he attended Bethany Lutheran College in Minnesota, where he earned a BA in studio art. He began work as a freelance illustrator immediately thereafter. He was married to Emily in 2008, and moved to Georgia in 2009, where he attended graduate school. He graduated with an MFA in illustration from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2011. He currently resides in Bellevue, Nebraska with his wife and son.
