This title contains photocopiable activities to help 10 year-olds practise mental maths. It extends work with numbers up to 1,000,000 as well as negative numbers, decimals and fractions. It also encourages confident use of number bond knowledge and calculations strategies in a variety of contexts and problems. The book begins with an introductory test to identify the children's knowledge of number facts such as times tables and provides a "prompt list" of useful maths vocabulary appropriate for the age range. The photocopiable activities which follow should help the children to develop a confident and flexible approach to counting and calculating mentally, offering them opportunities to develop strategies and mathematical vocabulary by writing or talking about their maths. To help teachers plan complementary oral maths sessions as part of complete maths lessons, each activity in this book is cross-referenced to the companion teacher's guide, "Developing Mental Maths with 9-11 year olds".
