He won both the American Caldecott Medal and the British Kate Greenaway Medal for children's book illustration, recognizing the 2012 picture book `This is Not My Hat'. Maryrose Wood grew up on Long Island and moved to New York City at the age of 17. She currently lives in Manhattan with her two children. She is the author of the children's book series The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place.
