TELL ME ABOUT is a biography series which tells the stories of famous people and brings their eras to life. Sojourner Truth (c.1797-1883) was a black woman whose parents had been captured in Africa and sold as slaves in America. Sojourner was a slave until she was thirty, but when she won her freedom she dedicated the rest of her life to speaking against slavery, racism and inequality.
