'I had to crash-land my Spitfire in a hop field. It was one of those 'busy' mornings. A Hurricane had come down in a nearby field and I went to help the pilot down, whose parachute was caught in a tree. We went into the village nearby and found the Kings Arms. We'd had four pints before they picked us up at lunchtime and we had to get back in aircraft again that afternoon'. Seventy years later, Squadron Leader Charlie Brown is one of the few pilots who had the privilege to fly a Spitfire. Complimenting the stories of pilots who flew the aircraft in the defence of Britain seventy years ago, Charlie brings his thoughts, and experiences in being one of the few pilots alive today able to fly a Spitfire. Over two generations, we tell the story of the Spitfire Pilot!
