Dr. Jocelyn Murray was born in New Zealand and spent 13 years as a missionary in Kenya. She earned her Ph. D. in African history from the University of California at Los Angeles. In 1974, she became a research fellow in the Department of Religious Studies of the University of Aberdeen. A staff member of the International African Institute in London, Murray has been writing and editing work, principally on African subjects, since 1980. Sean Sheehan has a degree in history and English. He worked as a teacher in England and southeast Asia before becoming a full-time writer. He is the author of numerous books on modern and ancient history.
