Jill Bretherton is a Lancashire lass living in Sussex. She studied English Literature and American Studies at Keele University. Darkmere is her first published novel. Jill hasthis to say about Darkmere: "When I decided to write this book I started by asking myself a simple question: what would be the greatest archaeological discovery ever? What if something were discovered that would really alter the workings of the world. What if that something changed the dynamics of the human race by causing a dramatic shift in the survival instinct that drives us all? Wouldn't that discovery, if there was one, have an untold effect on the world as we know it? I found the answer to that question, andthat was when Darkmere was formed. "
