Julie Miller was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire on 1st January 1938. War was in the air and was an overriding factor in everyone's lives. Ration books, air-raid shelters and fear were her earliest experiences. After graduating from the University of Leicester Teacher Training College, Julie's first teaching position was at Barkerend Road Primary School, Bradford. Subsequent positions have included four years in a New Zealand Boys' Boarding School, Wansdyke Special School in Bath, and Bristol Metropolitan Academy where she remained until 2016 when she retired at the age of seventy-eight. Julie has been awarded ACP (Associate Member of College of Preceptors) Special Education, and the title of Fellow of the College of Preceptors for having made an outstanding contribution to education. She has also been acclaimed for her work in easing traumatised children into educational pursuits. The author has been married twice, has three children and five step-children.
