Born to a coal-mining family in 1945, Robin Lawrie emigrated to Canada in 1953 and lived in Vancouver till 1968. Returning then to Britain, his freelance career as an illustrator and occasional author has continued until the present day. Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) was a Danish author and poet, most famous for his writing down of many timeless, classic fairy tales. He is Denmark's most famous author and his birthday is celebrated every year with a part called "Odin Story Day". Jenny Koralek was born in South Africa and educated in England and France. She is the author of a number of books for children, including The Boy and the Cloth of Dreams. She is married with three children and grandchildren. Mandy Sutcliffe took a degree in Illustration at Leeds Metropolitan University. It was during a three-month stay in Paris that she first started to paint pictures of children. Night Ride to Nanna's is her first book.
