In "Whatcha Got?: Scarcity and Value Economics," Jennifer Dussling introduces young readers to essential economic concepts through engaging, relatable scenarios. Centered around the themes of scarcity and value, the story invites children to explore the idea that not all things are abundant and how this impacts their choices. As characters navigate everyday situations—like trading toys or deciding what to share—readers learn the importance of evaluating what they have and understanding the value of both tangible and intangible resources. By weaving in practical examples, Dussling makes economics accessible and fun, encouraging critical thinking about the world around us. [Generated by language model - please report any problems].

Jennifer Dussling is lucky enough to have been surrounded by great children's books her whole life. As a teenager, she started working at a children's-only independent bookstore in Pennsylvania, and after graduating from college, she made her way to New York City, where she took a job as an editorial assistant at a publishing company. Since then, she's written over fifty books for kids, both fiction and nonfiction, licensed and original, including Bugs, Bugs, Bugs; Pink Snow and Other Weird Weather; Giant Squid; Slinky Scaly Snakes; and One Little Flower Girl. Jen lives in Tampa, Florida, and when she's not writing or editing, you can find her in her garden, on a volleyball court, or curled up with a good book.
