Mathew Price was born in Devonshire. He spent five years at Dillon's University Bookshop, then worked Hutchinson, Eel Pie Publishing and Blackie, before setting up as a packager in 1983 and as a publisher in 1998. Mathew is married to a Hawaiian American and has two children. He has written many books for children, including Join-In Stories for the Very Young, and the Little Red Car Stories.
