Daddy drives a big red tanker truck and he's on the road a lot. But today is a special day - he's going to pick his son up at nursery school! All day as he plays, the little boy pictures Daddy's truck making its way towards him. Meanwhile, Daddy pushes on, down the highway, over mountains, through tunnels, and - uh oh! - into a huge traffic jam! Now all the other mummies and daddies have come to pick up their children from work. Where is Daddy? Jana Novotny Hunter's bouncy rhyme and Carol Thompson's exuberant illustrations are just right for truck-loving children and the parents who hurry home to them.

It is a special day and the exuberant illustrations and bouncy rhyme perfectly match the refreshingly inclusive text. Daddy has tattoos, a tiny ponytail and an ear-ring. Role-models like this do not often feature in young children's books, so it is lovely that childrenw hi have fathers that may be late collecting and look like this when they do, can identify with the story and characters within it. Early Years Educator Naturally, this story will hold particular significance for children whose situation mirrors the boy's but it should not be disregarded for others. Young children eagerly anticipate seeing loved ones and this is a good book to snuggle up with and share with someone special at bedtime. www.writeaway.org.uk 5 stars. Brilliantly brought to life. Books for Keeps Perfect for truck-loving pre-schoolers. Child Care There is a heart-warming quality in the depiction of a strong father-son bond. School Librarian
