This book is part of a series which aims to introduce children to basic geographical topics and vocabulary, building firm foundations for later work. Children will enjoy the device of a boy and his dog who explore the world in a hot air balloon and the humorous illustrations, which help to explain difficult geographical ideas in a clear and accessible way. There are also many activities for children to try out for themselves, encouraging them to investigate their own environment. This book encourages children to observe, measure and record the weather and to think about seasonal changes and hot and cold countries. It also includes work on climate, the atmosphere and the water cycle.
