These practical suggestions will give children a sound grounding in early literacy skills. Activities encourage children to develop good communications skills, extend their vocabulary, use language to help thinking, begin to link sounds and letters, use and enjoy books and start to develop writing skills. The easy-to-use layout of the book makes it ideal for planning. Group size, level of difficulty and time required clearly indicated, Extension suggestions and links to home extend the ideas further. These fun, easy-to-use ideas can be used in all early years settings, from preschools and nurseries to reception classes and day nurseries.
