It's unheard of- Badger's in a bad mood and won't see or talk to anyone. Without him, the animals are at a loss - who will help with holiday arrangements, give advice and support, take them fishing? Only Mole has the senisitivity to see what is wrong. He secretly organises an award ceremony at which all the animals receive a certificate of achievement, but the climax of the celebrations id when Badger is awarded not one but five certificates for being most helpful, most wise, most caring, most loved and above all APPRECIATED animal of all. Susan Varley's exquisite watercolours sympathetically match Haiwyn Oram's sensitive text. Parents and children will find much to relate to in this simple but perceptive story.
