Herman Melville was an American novelist, essayist, and poet, best known for his masterpiece Moby Dick. Jan Needle is a writer of children's books, plays, criticism, cartoons, TV programmes and a wide range of fiction for adults. He divides his time between Oldham and Manchester. Patrick Benson is one of the finest children's illustrators working today and won the Mother Goose Award in 1984 and the Kurt Maschler Award in 1995 for The Little Boat. His work has been exhibited in art galleries on both sides of the border and he has curated an exhibition of theatre posters from around the world. Academic consultant Dr. Arthur Pober has spent over 20 years in the areas of early childhood and gifted education. Eric Freeberg received an MFA in painting from the New York Academy of Art in New York City.
