Most serious injuries that happen to young children happen in the home. "Look Out at Home" is a no-nonsense book with a strong safety message for young children about how they should avoid potentially dangerous situations in the home. The narrative throughout is in simple straightforward language, which is undramatic and reassuring whilst stressing the dangers that seemingly familiar situations can hold for children. A mixture of running narrative and speech bubbles has been specially developed in association with the National Centre for Language and Literacy (Reading Reading Centre) to draw in both confident and less able readers. Specially commissioned photographs are combined with child-centred artwork to support the text and re-iterate the safety message.
