Brenda Williams, a former elementary school English teacher, is now a highly regarded children's poet. Her other books for Barefoot Books include The Real Princess, Outdoor Opposites and Lin Yi's Lantern. Rosamund Fowler trained in design and illustration at Harriet Watt University and at the Edinburgh College of Art. She has created original illustrations for corporate design, advertising and packaging, and has been shortlisted for the Glenfiddich Awards for Illustration multiple times. She lives in West Sussex, England. Helen McAlpine was born in England and studied at a dancing school in Tokyo for seven years. She had the distinction of being the first foreigner to receive the rank of "natori" in the field of classical Japanese dancing. Her husband William McAlpine was the representative of the British Council in Rangoon.
