German teenager Martin has a serious heart condition. It could lead to an early death unless he obtains a heart transplant. This is the story of how he copes with his predicament and the way in which friends at school react and respond.

Next door neighbour, Rebekah is intrigued both by his condition and his way of handling the situation. Initially she is sceptical about his faith, but is eventually 'won over' by Martin's sheer love for God.

Their friendship blossoms and we follow the twists and turns of the treatment as Martin fights for his life and the twists and turns of Rebekah's understanding as she gropes for spiritual light. I won't spoil the ending for you!!!

The book is based on the personal experience of the author who needed a similar operation. It is accurate medically (for fans of E.R.) but more importantly shows how befriending people does not rest on setting pre-conditions.
