Nick Hunter has written many non-fiction books for children. He has a degree in Modern History and specializes in writing about history and social studies. Martin Bustamante is an illustrator and painter from Argentina. At the age of 3 he was able to draw a horse "starting by the tail" as his mother always says. As a teenager he was inspired by fascinating worlds full of colors, shapes, and atmospheres found in movies and books such as Star Wars and Prince Valiant. Drawing and painting quickly became Martin's passions and he began working as a professional illustrator. Martin's work has appeared in several publications from Argentina, the United States, and Europe. Ali Sparkes has her own show on Radio Southampton. The Shapeshifter: Finding the Fox, published May 06, is the first book in this series. Di Hatchett is an expert in early intervention in literacy and mathematics and in the leadership of inclusion. Di's extensive career in primary education has included 12 years as a head teacher, a long spell as a Senior Director with the Primary National Strategy and, more recently, as Director of The Every Child a Chance Trust, developing the Every Child a Reader and Every Child Counts programmes. Di's field of expertise is the development of high quality approaches to intervention for children who struggle with the development of core skills in literacy and/or mathematics. Marilyn Joyce is an expert in systematic synthetic phonics and early literacy development. Marilyn has spent many years teaching in London schools and advising on literacy in local authorities. Marilyn was also part of the team that wrote the 'Letters and Sounds' phonics programme under the leadership of Sir Jim Rose, and was Senior Director of the Communication, Language and Literacy Development team in the National Strategies. Joanna Nadin was born in Nottingham. She is a former broadcast journalist and Special Adviser to the Prime Minister, and continues to freelance as a political speechwriter. She has also been a cleaner and a juggler.
