Gill Harvey studied French and Philosophy at Oxford, and has been puzzling over life ever since. She became a writer/editor at Usborne Publishing then decided to go freelance and writing has become a way of life. Her love of horses has resulted in eight of the Heartland titles for Scholastic Inc under the name of Lauren Brooke; she has also written for the Young Animal Ark series as Lucy Daniels. A year spent commuting to Egypt led to the writing of Orphan of the Sun, Gill's first book for Bloomsbury, and subsequently to the Egyptian Chronicles series.
Praise for the Egyptian Chronicles series: 'Stories set in ancient Egypt are rare so this is very welcome. Details of life at the time, the food, drink, clothing and customs come alive as part of the story, not indigestible facts' Books for Keeps 'Life in Ancient Egypt is described in convincingly authentic detail as the thrilling plot unravels ... Background detail is abundant and colourful, providing much information about life in Ancient Egypt in a very natural way ... A highly readable volume with a rich educational bonus' School Librarian 'As well as an exciting storyline, the books are also historically accurate, allowing children to absorb information while they read' Junior Education Plus 'The Ancient Egypt of 1150 BC is vividly recreated here in all its heat, colour, beauty and menace ... a memorable read' Carousel
