This title offers an introduction to spelling through awareness of the link between sounds and letter patterns - a structured approach, a thorough foundation upon which to build future spelling skills and the confidence to tackle new words. The "Parent point" on every spread explains the purpose at the point of the activity at which the child does the exercise. There is a "Skills checklist" at the back of the book. The use of entertaining characters (the same as those found in the "Practise Cursive Writing") encourages concentration and a positive approach to spelling.
