The "Literacy Kit" is an innovative range of resources to support the introduction of the National Literacy Strategy at Key Stage 3, or for use in any literacy lesson. Used together, the components make up a complete literacy course. Components can also be used separately with existing schemes of work, providing a thorough yet flexible package. Sentence Level Lesson Starters Box - Pacy, interactive and investigative openings to literacy lessons are an integral part of the NLS approach. Each box contains teaching notes giving ideas and guidance for meeting all the word or sentence level objectives for the whole of Key Stage 3, supported by ready-made resources to put the ideas into practice. Resources include ready-made word and punctuation cards; OHTs; playing cards; and photocopy masters.

This book is suitable for Key Stage 3. KS3 covers school years 7, 8 and 9, and ages 12-14 years. A key stage is any of the fixed stages into which the national curriculum is divided, each having its own prescribed course of study. At the end of each stage, pupils are required to complete standard assessment tasks.
