Gavin Mortimer was born in London 35 years ago. As a freelance journalist he has contributed articles to a diverse range of magazines and newspapers, including the Observer, the Guardian, History Monthly and Esquire. He has written many adult books on a variety of themes, and writes monthly for Rugby World and Observer Sports Magazine. He is a member of the MCC and has played cricket since he was a small boy and comes from a family of cricket fanatics. This is his first book for Puffin. Tony Morris illustrated Lion Children's Books' successful Lion Story Bible series. His other work includes the What's Their Story? series for Oxford University Press, and Hodder Children's Books' Historical Storybooks series.
