Welcome to the magical world of Florentine and Pig! Join them on their adventures as they discover the glorious world of friendship, frolics & food. Florentine and Pig are going to celebrate a lovely sunny day by having a picnic. Florentine puts on her thinking cap and comes up with a delicious menu, including treats like apple and carrot muffins - only to realise that Pig ate the last of the apples! Pig knows what he has to do when he spots three perfect apples at the top of the tree in the garden. Pig is intrepid and Pig is brave, but how good a climber is he? A near disaster is averted, and Florentine and Pig get to work making a very lovely picnic indeed. Families can join in the cooking fun by following the recipes at the back of the book.

Jess Mikhail studied at Loughborough University, graduating with a degree in Illustration. She uses lots of different techniques in her artwork; drawing, scanning, printing and scribbling to create bright illustrations that are full of colour and texture. Jess' first picture book, I Love You, Little Monster was published by Orchard Books in 2012. She lives and works in Birmingham. Florentine and Pig is the brainchild of singer-songwriter Eva Katzler. Working with children of all ages in summer camps, Eva quickly became aware that kids had forgotten - or had never known - the simple pleasures of getting a little messy with their hands. She devised the delightful partnership of Florentine and Pig as a way of encouraging children (and adults!) to rediscover the joys of making things together. Jess Mikhail graduated from Loughborough University in 2002 and has illustrated books for well-known authors such as Giles Andreae, Julia Donaldson and Jeanne Willis. Jess loves to draw and create funny characters that make people smile. She works in mixed media by scanning fabrics, scribbling, blobbing, mono-printing and photographing. www. florentineandpig. com
