Son of a slave in Guadaloupe, the Chevalier moved to France where he became a champion swordsman, violin virtuoso, composer, and military commander in the French Revolution. From the plantations of the West Indies to the palace at Versailles, "Le Mozart Noir" details the true story of the man who became known as "The Black Mozart." It is illustrated by original paintings and archival materials.
