Gilson and Clarke (born the same day, November 16, 1965!), both former art school students, earned their spurs in the comic strip world by creating the magazine Cafard together. As a team, Gilson and Clarke discovered the charms of sorcery while launching Melusine in 1995. Mathew Price was born in Devonshire. He spent five years at Dillon's University Bookshop, then worked Hutchinson, Eel Pie Publishing and Blackie, before setting up as a packager in 1983 and as a publisher in 1998. Mathew is married to a Hawaiian American and has two children. He has written many books for children, including Join-In Stories for the Very Young, and the Little Red Car Stories. Emma Chichester Clark studied at Chelsea School of Art and then the Royal College WHere she was taught by Quentin Blake. She won the Mother Goose Award in 1988 for Listen to This.
