Lucy Marcovitch started her career as a primary teacher in Leeds before moving to London to write teaching materials and non-fiction books for schools. A Safe Place was her first picture book for young children. She loves running and walking in beautiful places, reading, theatre, music and watching her two young children grow up. Lucy lives in Warwickshire. Paul Cemmick's first love was cartoons. After studying graphic design at Maidstone College of Art, he got a job as an Art Editor on an industrial magazine. Since becoming a freelance cartoonist, Paul's work has appeared on book covers, album and CD covers, crisp packets and in numerous newspapers and magazines, including Punch and the Sunday Times. He has also produced caricatures for film and TV. Elizabeth Hawkins teaches creative writing at the City Institute. She has written books for children of all ages. The Hamster stories are her first titles for Puffin. Elizabeth lives in North London.
