Christmas is coming and Polly Flowerdew is bursting with excitement. What will she find in her stocking? Will the Wise Men visit as she has always hoped? Who knows what may happen at this special time of year? In the event, this Christmas isn't like any she has ever known, especially when three ships sail into the harbour. This charming and light-hearted period tale will appeal both to new readers and existing fans of Elizabeth Goudge's work.

Kate Lum lives in Canada and is the author of WHAT which won the Children's Book Award in 1999. Sue Hellard lives in London and is the illustrator of many wonderful books for children. This is her first book for Bloomsbury - but it was such fun working on it we already have another in the pipe-line! Elizabeth Goudge wrote a number of well-loved children's fantasies. She won the Carnegie Medal in 1946 for The Little White Horse which was the basis for the 2009 film The Secret of Moonacre.
