Bellairs was a prolific writer, publishing more than a dozen novels before his untimely death in 1991. The late Thomas E. Fuller is the author, with Brad Strickland, of Aladdin's Pirate Hunter trilogy. John Ciardi served as poetry editor of The Saturday Review , director of Bread Loaf Writers' Conference, and translator of the The Divine Comedy . He died on Easter Sunday, 1986.
