Edward and Nancy Blishen have long been recognized as expert authorities on children's literature. Nancy Blishen lives in Hertfordshire. Edward Blishen was a recognised expert authority on children's literature. In 1970, he won the Carnegie Medal jointly with Leon Garfield for The God Beneath the Sea. He also compiled the acclaimed anthology, Children's Classics to Read Aloud, published by Kingfisher. Together with his wife Nancy he compiled several anthologies for Kingfisher, including The Kingfisher Treasury of Stories for Children. Edward Blishen died in 1996. Judy Allen is an award-winning author who has written more than 40 books for children. In 1988, her novel, Awaiting Developments, won the Whitbread Children's Novel Award, the Friends of the Earth Award and was commended for the Carnegie Medal.
