Edward and Nancy Blishen have long been recognized as expert authorities on children's literature. In 1970, Edward Blishen won the Carnegie Medal (jointly with Leon Garfield) for The God Beneath the Sea. He also compiled the acclaimed anthology, Children's Classics to Read Aloud, published by Kingfisher. Together, Edward and Nancy Blishen compiled several treasuries for Kingfisher, including The Kingfisher Treasury of Stories for Children and the age-ranged Treasury of Stories for. series. Nancy Blishen lives in Hertfordshire. Edward Blishen was a recognised expert authority on children's literature. In 1970, he won the Carnegie Medal jointly with Leon Garfield for The God Beneath the Sea. He also compiled the acclaimed anthology, Children's Classics to Read Aloud, published by Kingfisher. Together with his wife Nancy he compiled several anthologies for Kingfisher, including The Kingfisher Treasury of Stories for Children. Edward Blishen died in 1996. Polly Noakes is an illustrator and author with a passion for creating lyrical images for children's books. Her love of illustration started at Cambridge School of Art and Polly graduated from the MA in Children's Book Illustration in 2015. Polly lives in the countryside with her family and rescued Romanian street dog Bertie, who likes long lively walks!
