Edward and Nancy Blishen have long been recognized as expert authorities on children's literature. In 1970, Edward Blishen won the Carnegie Medal (jointly with Leon Garfield) for The God Beneath the Sea. He also compiled the acclaimed anthology, Children's Classics to Read Aloud, published by Kingfisher. Together, Edward and Nancy Blishen compiled several treasuries for Kingfisher, including The Kingfisher Treasury of Stories for Children and the age-ranged Treasury of Stories for. series. Nancy Blishen lives in Hertfordshire. Edward Blishen was a recognised expert authority on children's literature. In 1970, he won the Carnegie Medal jointly with Leon Garfield for The God Beneath the Sea. He also compiled the acclaimed anthology, Children's Classics to Read Aloud, published by Kingfisher. Together with his wife Nancy he compiled several anthologies for Kingfisher, including The Kingfisher Treasury of Stories for Children. Edward Blishen died in 1996.
