"Bright Sparks" is a series designed to shine a light on the potential of each child. With a generous emphasis on problem solving, "Bright Sparks" connects mathematics to familiar real life experiences in the Caribbean. It helps students see that Mathematics is far more than learning calculations, but rather something all around them, infused in everything they do. In each of the seven Student's Books from Kindergarten level ("Book K") to the culmination of Primary School ("Book 6"), higher thinking skills are systematically developed. Explanations and examples introduce each new concept, a feature proving invaluable to teachers, students and parents alike. "Bright Sparks" helps students learn to reason, teaching students to analyse, apply different strategies and try multiple approaches to finding solutions. It includes tools like Hint, Remember and Challenge, to help teachers differentiate and reach all students. "Bright Sparks Workbooks" provide practical exercises for homework, practice with new skills, further opportunities for problem solving, and interesting, thoughtful word problems to connect mathematics to everyday life. The layout of the workbooks allows the students to show their steps in solving problems and demonstrates their understanding. Teachers will appreciate the layout, and the close alignment of the workbooks to the "Bright Sparks" texts. Extra exercises are included for those concepts and skills which experienced teachers know cause difficulty for some students.
