As well as telling the story of Baird's life from his childhood in Scotland to his international fame as 'the Television Man', this book looks at the impact of his invention in terms of its importance in world history. The science behind the invention of the television is explained with interesting diagrams, and quotes from Baird and his contemporaries give an insight into the famous inventor's mind. Towards the end of the book, Baird's legacy on 20th century history is discussed, giving the reader a chance to think about the impact of his life and scientific discovery on world history as a whole.
