Dorothee de Monfreid began to write stories and illustrate them with coloured pencils when she was at school. Now that she is bigger, she is a full-time author-illustrator, writing stories for French children about cats, bunnies, elephants, stinky monsters and even cake! Sylviane Donnio began writing her first children's book at age eight, but stopped after about a dozen lines, promising herself she'd try again when she was bigger. After studying law and becoming a mother of three children, she kept her promise. She lives in France with her family and has written many books for children.

I was hooked from the second I saw the title... I Really Want To Eat A Child more than lives up to its promise...
I loved every single word, every single page. I love Achilles' big-headedness and sulkiness. I love his arrogance and getting his come-uppance. I love his daring plans. He's a scamp and a trier, and you'd be in fits of laughter if he was your little pal. Such a beautifully well-crafted character. And that haughty stomp! Oh, such fun. Such such such fun.
Dorothee de Monfreid's illustrations meld perfectly with the text. Both create a glorious world that you'll wish you were a part of (even if that means you run the risk of Achilles nipping at your toes).
Highly highly recommended. Buy it, read it, and love Achilles the crocodile as much as I do.
