As well as books for children, Peter Harris wrote scripts for children and adult comedy TV programmes. Initially an accountant, he decided that writing was much more fun! Deborah Allwright is a rising star in children's illustration, and The Night Pirates marks an exciting new departure in her style. Peter Harris was born in London 1933, and initially trained as an accountant before being encouraged by his wife to take up writing full-time. He wrote for television, radio, and children's comics, and well as writing numerous books for children. Doffy Weir always wanted to illustrate children's books and managed to get started by working for a publisher. An editor saw some of her drawings and asked her to illustrate a poetry book. She has been illustrating ever since. She has two grown-up children and lives in London, which she loves because it is full of different people from all over the world.
