This book is suitable for Key Stage 1. KS1 covers school years 1 and 2, and ages 5-7 years. A key stage is any of the fixed stages into which the national curriculum is divided, each having its own prescribed course of study. At the end of each stage, pupils are required to complete standard assessment tasks.

Mary Lister is a freelance storyteller and puppeteer. Passionate about the power of stories, she is actively involved with inner-city reading schemes and has performed in theatres, art galleries, museums and schools worldwide. She often uses puppets in her performances and also organises a yearly puppetry and animation festival. Mary lives and works in West Yorkshire, England. Diana Mayo has a BA in Graphic Design and Illustration from Kingston University. She draws her inspiration from folk tales and myths from around the world, and revels in strong colour and lively detail. Diana has also illustrated The Gingerbread Man (978-1-84148-055-8) and The House that Jack Built (978-1-84148-250-7) for Barefoot Books. She lives in Essex. Mary Auld studied English at London University, before becoming an editor of children's books, editing and writing both fiction and non-fiction. This is her first series for Franklin Watts. Diana Mayo is a young illustrator with a rising reputation. She studied illustration at Kingston University. Diana has produced illustrations for books of Myths and Legends for Franklin Watts and Barefoot Books.
