Each book covers one specific writing type and aims to improve teacher confidence and knowledge about shared and guided writing, plus give them the teaching resource they need to improve practice. Each book has 4 sections: Section 1 'Using Good Examples' looks at two specific writing models with Shared Writing activities that enable children (and teachers) to develop knowledge and understanding of the text type. Section 2, 'Developing Writing', offers a set of supportive activities to prompt children to plan and write within the text type. Section 3, 'Writing', shows children how to put their writing ideas and planning together into written work. Section 4, 'Review', gives opportunities for children to redraft, assess and improve their own writing, plus subject knowledge useful reference information, and advice for teachers. This title offers clarity of teacher support and self contained package with lesson plans plus photocopiable resources. The activities in "Recounts" (5-7) enable children to: understand the purposes of recounts - to retell events, to inform or to entertain; explore the main features of recounts - the orientation, events in order, and conclusion; and, write about their own experiences.
