Describes how, from the launch of early experimental rockets, man has explored the vastness of space, focusing on dramatic moments such as Yuri Gagarin's historic flight into space and Neil Armstrong's feelings as he became the first man on the moon. The illustrations are complemented by four acetate see-through scenes, showing NASA's space station, an astronaut's spacesuit and Manned Manoeuvring Unit, the Russian space station Mir, and a launch-pad take-off scene.
