Pupils will fulfil the National Curriculum requirements of reading drama by major playwrights by studying the eighteenth century plays included in this resource. Pupils will appreciate the importance of texts that portray information, issues and events relating to past experience by reading the two mini-anthologies from the eighteenth century. Understanding of the texts is encouraged by comprehensive support material. Follow-up activities raise awareness of the scripts as performance texts. Pupils will learn to think beyond the text by working through the suggested activities relating to both practical and written assignments.
