Born in London in 1936, Roger Collinson studied at Durham University. He has taught English in secondary schools in London, Surrey and Southend and later moved to junior school teaching. He now lives in Appleby, Cumbria where he is a curate. David McKee is also the creator of both Mr Benn, which was voted 6th of the Top 100 Children's Programmes on TV, and King Rollo.
