"Citizenship Studies for AQA GCSE Short Course" supports the teaching and learning of the specification, and can also be used as a general textbook for the Key Stage 4 Citizenship programme of study. The book has been written by leading Citizenship examiners and features coverage of the main topics demanded by the specification, including: School, Work and the Local Community National and European Citizenship Global Citizenship. Each topic comprises three themes that help to ensure that students become informed and responsible citizens which include: Rights and Responsibilities; Decision-making; and, Power and Authority Participation in Citizenship Activities. The book also contains advice sections for students on how to plan, carry out and reflect upon coursework activities, and prepare for the demands of the exam.

 

This book is suitable for Key Stage 4. KS4 covers school years 10 and 11, and ages 15-16 years. A key stage is any of the fixed stages into which the national curriculum is divided, each having its own prescribed course of study. At the end of each stage, pupils are required to complete standard assessment tasks. This book is aimed at children in secondary school.

Mike Mitchell is a teacher of Politics, History and Citizenship at Exmouth Community College and is chief examiner of the AS Citizenship course (AQA) and Politics. David Worden is an RE teacher in Devon and is a senior examiner of RE at GCSE for AQA. Ed Waller is a Head of Humanities in Hampshire and is a senior examiner of Humanities at GCSE for AQA. David Jones is a full-time freelance writer with a degree in zoology. He has written widely on natural history themes and has published one previous book for young readers. He lives in Vancouver, B. C.
