Varjak Paw is a Mesopotamian Blue kitten. He lives high up in an old house on a hill. He's never left home, but then his grandfather tells him about the Way - a secret martial art for cats. 'There are Seven Skills in the way of Jalal,' whispered the Elder Paw. 'We know only three of them. Their names are these. Slow-Time. Moving Circles. Shadow-walking.' Living in a sheltered environment with his family, Varjak is intrigued by the stories of his legendary ancestor, Jalal, and dreams of adventure beyond the confines of his home. When a mysterious and sinister force threatens his family, Varjak is compelled to leave the safety of his home in search of help. He encounters a group of street cats who introduce him to the harsh realities of life outside. With the guidance of the ancient martial art known as "The Way of Jalal," Varjak learns to harness his innate abilities and becomes more confident in navigating the challenges of the outside world. As Varjak confronts various dangers and adversaries, including a ruthless, sleek cat known as the "Other Cat," he discovers his own strength and the importance of friendship. The story explores themes of bravery, self-discovery, and the struggle between tradition and modernity, ultimately showcasing Varjaks journey toward finding his identity and protecting his family. Follow Varjak's further adventures in The Outlaw Varjak Paw.
